Most of the time, when we think of Appalachia we think of the southern mountain ranges – places like Kentucky, West Virginia, and North Carolina. But the Appalachian Mountain Range technically stretches from Alabama to Newfoundland, and the Scottish Highlands are even believed to have once been a part of this ancient land when Pangea was formed. So I thought we'd dedicate an episode during Appalachia April to the north. We all love a good haunted house story. Hearing about strange noises in the night from a ghost with a backstory is exactly how I like to spend my time. Spooky stories from Appalachia have blown up over the years and lucky for us, there is no shortage of first-hand tales from people who live in the region online. So for today, I scoured Reddit for some of the strangest and scariest paranormal stories set in Appalachia. The stories range in location and the kind of activity witnessed, but they are all haunting in their own right. If you’ve been here with us long enough, then you know we have a borderline obsession with Appalachia. It’s ancient, strange, and down-right spooky! We’ve done several episodes now on some of the legends, lore, and scariest stories to come out of that region and with each new thing that we learn about it, the more I want to know. So, we thought we’d take the month of April (because I love a good moment for alliteration) and talk about all things Appalachia.
